Emily Vaughan

Emily is Jeff's sister. He gave her a lousy haircut when they were kids and has yet to live it down. Emily is fun to travel with and always seeks out great restaurants. She's also surprisingly tolerant of her brother's “museum turtle” tendencies. As an only child, Jenn is thrilled that she's getting not only a husband out of this deal, but also a sister.

Haakon Ringberg

H introduced Jeff to many of life's finer things, including Johnny Cash and Europe. In 2004, they visited both Sweden and Haakon's hometown of Tromso, Norway. There, H took Jeff to see the band Turdus Musicus and told the bouncer they were on the list. Jeff had never been on the list.

Hanna Wallach

Hanna and Jenn became friends while Hanna was a visiting grad student at Penn. Although Hanna now lives up north, she is still the person Jenn is most likely to turn to in the event of any work-related crisis, and has been there to talk Jenn down from the academic ledge on more than one occasion. She is one of the very few people Jenn can consistently sit and talk with for hours, and Philadelphia hasn't been the same since she's been gone.

Irene Macdonald

Irene and Jenn first met way back in second grade, when they attended the same Catholic elementary school in West Roxbury, MA. Irene helped Jenn dye her hair red for the first time circa 1994, around the same time she introduced Jenn to Nine Inch Nails and fishnet tights. In the past twenty years, their friendship survived more than its fair share of bad fashion, bad relationship decisions, and bad teenage poetry, so Jenn is pretty sure it will survive whatever life throws at them next.

Jessica Jenkins

Jenn met Jess while taking intro AI at Stanford. They shared a common work hard/play hard ethic, with many late nights spent at both the lab and the bar, and eventually started a weekly Girls' Night as an oasis from the world of Computer Science. In 2004, they organized the very first jello shot Easter egg hunt in the Stanford cactus garden, a lasting tradition that is now held regularly on both coasts.

Nick Taylor

As one of Jeff's housemates during their first two years at Penn, Nick got to know Jenn and Jeff pretty well, but they've grown much closer since. Nick and Jeff enjoy visiting local tourist sites (e.g., the Mint) and watching old Star Trek episodes together—activities hardly encouraged by their significant others. Nick is well known around the office for his pitch-perfect, whistled operas.

Rob Huff

An artist and a radio DJ, Rob keeps Jenn and Jeff up-to-date on the latest pop culture and trends. He throws a mean deck party, always featuring the best playlists. Rob's encyclopedic knowledge of Lost and Buffy has saved us untold confusion, and his blindfolded pictionary skills constitute an unfair, but much appreciated, advantage in games of Cranium.

Sergey Grankin

Jeff and Surge met in college. They bonded during late nights procrastinating and eating wings in Cornell's System's Lab. Surge's insistence that good beer and good bread share similar texture has irreparably shaped Jeff's palate.
